I know some of you liked Lexx. Are there echoes of B7 in it as people seem to see in Andromeda? Any good avatars?
_Lexx_ is definitely a member of what I've referred to in the past as the "gang of misfits bickering on a Really Big Spaceship" subgenre of TV SF. Half the misfits are escaped criminals, too, and (assuming they start with the movie series which comprises the first season) there's even an Opressive Galactic Government. So, plot-wise there are certain similarities. There aren't really any avatars, IMO... I've heard Stanley Tweedle compared to Vila, but while I rather like Stanley, in a pitying sort of way, he lacks any of Vila's positive qualities...
Do either of them have humour? A vital ingredient IMO, and one of the reasons I love B7 so much.
_Lexx_ is swimming in humor, but it's of a very different quality than B7's, and it's, IMHO, rather uneven. At its best (especially in the first season), the show displays a very dark, very satiric sort of humor that really appeals to me. It's *definitely* not everybody's cup of tea, though. It tries very hard to push the envelope of what one can do on TV with regards to sex and violence, often to the point of becoming the closest thing to soft-core porn, or of engaging in sick violence for sheer shock value. So if that sort of thing bothers you, be warned! If you're OK with that sort of thing, and like really black, off-the-wall humor, it's worth taking a look at. If nothing else, the characters, IMO, are very good.
_Starhunter_ I've never heard of. Has it ever aired in the US?
