Dorian's basement room was carved out of a special mineral deposit, and derived its properties from that. He told Avon about it, and Vila

What was to stop either of them from using any or all of the others to enable him to live longer, apart from his conscience? Did anyone have
the
room or the access to it blown up?
In the novelisation, and the original script, the room was blown up - but it never made it to the screen so the basement cavern was presumably still accessible. In fact, if you listen to all the remarks between Dorian & Avon, it adds another twist to the "Avon goes mad in s4" theory. The room "accepts" Avon; it affects/controls Dorian ("By now I probably would be"), etc. Perhaps not all the "madness & rotting corruption" settled back on Dorian when the creature was destroyed.
I always wondered what the consequences would be if Avon had managed to get the barely-alive Blake back to the cavern (So what if Blake's not moving and the base is destroyed? No problem).
