Betty Ragan on peanut patties:
Yeah, I'd advise reserving judgement on that one... I've only tried this particular "delight" once, but I found it almost uneatable. And I *like* peanuts.
<g> I don't doubt that one may have to acquire the taste in childhood, but they're quite popular with my family (all from Texas except me); and they're the only candy other than chocolates that I can be bothered to eat.
OTOH, maybe you just didn't get a good brand. The few I've tried of NM manufacture were hard and brittle and painful to chew, where TX ones are soft and sugary. If you smash them into pieces (like peanut brittle) they'll pretty much melt in your mouth.
Now, what kinds of snacks would our heroes like? I've got Avon and Dayna both pegged as the crunchy, salty type, maybe pretzels or party mix for Avon and crisps or pork rinds for Dayna? And Jenna has a thing for fruit pies, which she eats cold with her fingers, when nobody's looking - also every variety of cheese. Servalan eats fresh fruit dipped in chocolate and decorated with candied violets and real gold by her personal chef, served on priceless antique china. She absolutely refuses to acknowledge Jarriere on the other side of the table, contentedly eating batter-fried Snowballs.
