Vila does seem to get more than his fair share of getting knocked about. Mind you what with Tarrant and Avon shoving him about, he gets almost as much grief from the crew as from the assorted bad guys.
Yes - he's lost Cally, the last person who'd shown him any sympathy,
I think he's about the only one who ever even mentions Cally's death after _Rescue_
And then he spends the entirety of s4 having a completely miserable time.
