There have been plenty of US DVDs which had things that were missing from the European editions, which is one reason why so many Europeans have chipped players...
Not to mention many things that are only released at all in Region 1. On the other hand, Region 2 is way ahead of Region 1 in Buffy releases...
Besides, I can't really see why region-cracked players would be so much more expensive on the US side of the pond. In all cases I know of, it's the same player as the region-fascist version, only with another firmware downloaded into it. Cracking my player consisted of hooking a PC up to a port on the back of it for about five minutes and cost me $15. And the region-free firmware was "accidentally leaked" from Pioneer themselves, so it works just as well as the original.
Of course, one can hope that people producing such limit-audience stuff as B7 will have the good sense to code it Region 0 (that is, any region at all).
