Kathryn asked Steve:
Kill the Dead is copyright 1980, Sand was first broadcast late 1981.
And how long a delay between when Sand was *written* and when it was broadcast?
According to the Marvel Winter Special, Tanith Lee was commissioned to write Sand in "early 1981". It was shot in July (Virn exteriors) and August (studio stuff) for broadcast in November 1981.
She was approached to write Sarcophagus in 1979 - even less specific - but it was shot in November 1979 and January 1980 (for broadcast in March).
Ah. So Kill The Dead was probably influenced by Sarcophagus! But I have a feeling that Companions on the Road was written before then.
