Duel - as I've said before, make *Vilakins* the one picked to demonstrate the death of a friend (his enthusiasm for the idea - and the scenes with him and the mutoid - would have been priceless).
I would have liked the duel to continue as a spacebatlle between the federation crews and Our Heroes. With the Liberator running low on energy and possibly some damage inflicted by breaking out of the barrage, that would have created some nice stressy situations where they could all do a fair bit of shouting at eachother.
