There was a recent interview with Felix Williamson, who is starring in one of his father's plays at the moment. He told the reporter a story about his brother, who had to study a David Williamson play for a high school exam. So his brother asks their father about the usual things that come up in such exams, and included them in his answers. He ended up with the lowest mark in the class.
It may be disrespectful. Sadly, it may be very true with many writers.
It reminds me of the true story of Elvis Presley taking part in an Elvis impersonator contest, in which he only won third prize!
