Dorian's basement room was carved out of a special mineral deposit, and derived its properties from that. He told Avon about it, and Vila heard as he hid on the stairs.
What was to stop either of them from using any or all of the others to enable him to live longer, apart from his conscience? Did anyone have the room or the access to it blown up? Have I missed something? If I'd been a member of that crew, I'd have been extremely nervous, esp. as Avon got more unstable.
