At the end of this post I will insert the academic resume of Fiona Moore
I might be being 100% naive, but it is my belief, based on private correspondence, that *Fiona Moore* has nothing to do with the current spate of nastiness here, nor the post to the newsgroup in question.
And no, I'm not Fiona, nor am I Jenny, nor have I ever met either of them, nor am I their associate.
I suspect that the "handbag" business may be some sort of drag queen slang, picked up from her research on that topic.
And on handbags, as far as I'm aware, the terminology started in a certain ex-Prime Minister of this country ....

In football circles "handbags" describes a scrap where no real damage was done. For example if two players exchange ineffectual punches before being pulled apart by their team mates. The assumption being that women cannot fight.
Not an assumption I share, I hasten to add for Leia's benefit !
On topic reference: The altercation between Avon and Tarrant on the Flight Deck in "Sarcophagus" was a definite case of handbags.

And the Tarrant-Jarvik match-up in Harvest of Kairos. (BTW, I was at a venture capital breakfast meeting yesterday and someone handed me a card from Kairos Consulting...I did a double-take, I assure you.) Especially since Dayna does notably better against Jarvik.
I wonder if there is any link to "The Importance of Being Earnest" in the use of "handbags"? OTOH, on other B7 lists, I've seen it used more or less as a synonym for "pants": i.e., a mild expletive.

PS--it's odd that I haven't been named as a "slasher," in that unlike most of the people so described, I do in fact write and publish slash fiction, sub. nom. Executrix for those who don't know.

Apparently Kairos is a real word. It is one of the Greek words for time.
Kairos time differs from Chronos time in as much as it is mythological in content. So for Chronos time you might say something like
"In 1688 William of Orange landed in England"
for Kairos time you would say something like
"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth"
Quite why consultants would want to call themselves Kairos I leave to others to speculate. But I'd check any dates on any contracts very carefully indeed !
