I've just created a new mailing list, and I'd be delighted if any of you interesting people could join me there.
The GenFicCrit mailing list is a list for discussing fan fiction in general and in particular.
- Gen stands for gen (not slash or adult), general (any fandom), general (fan fiction in general) - Fic stands for Fan Fiction - Crit stands for Critique, and "Criticism" in the classic sense of literary criticism, not of tearing into or tearing down or tearing apart. Rather, it implies intelligent analysis.
We adhere to the principles of the <http://trickster.org./fca/:Fanfiction Critics Association>; that is, we respect Fan fiction enough to treat it with the same legitimacy as any other work of fiction, including being able to examine it seriously and in detail, without fear or favour.
This is not a writer's support group. There are quite a few of them around, take a look at http://www.smartgroups.com/groups/fanficideas http://groups.yahoo.com/group/fanfic_writer/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Beta_Unlimited/ for example. That isn't to say we don't want writers here -- far from it! Because most writers are readers first, and have good ideas about what they like and don't like in fanfic, and that's what we're interested in talking about.
