I'm certainly of that opinion. Although I think Avon had understandable reasons for behaving as he did at GP, the blame lies primarily with him. He shot an unarmed man, who was not in any way threatening him.
It's strange but, in that scene, I think Avon doesn't realize Blake is unarmed until after he's shot him (not a justification, just an observation). Whether that's a stronger argument for the last scene being some kind of hallucination or nightmare (perhaps Federation psychosurgeon induced), I don't know. However, what bothers me even more is the way Avon casually shoots several other people in the base before Tarrant tells him Blake's sold them. As he has every reason to believe this is Blake's current crew, what was he thinking?
