I think it's at least some evidence that Avon's family was not terribly wealthy that he EVER stopped being a post-doc and got a job. (Although they might have lost their money or disowned him for one reason or another.) In fact his Flight Deck argument style seems carried over from academic infighting.

We haven't been told whether one goes to Federation Space Academy after or instead of college--presumably the latter, if Tarrant is old enough to have various post-graduate adventures. Presumably Servalan also went to FSA, although my mind boggles. We aren't told that Jenna DIDN'T go to FSA, but I tend to doubt it. So where, if anywhere, did she go to college?

I have no idea about Auron higher education.

Gan and Vila probably didn't go to college-- although if there were a B7 version of Doonesbury (...let me hurry to state that I don't think there could be...) Vila would make an excellent Zonker Harris. (I wonder if he's a relative of Xander's BTW.)
