Or perhaps someone once told Gareth that it wasn't shown in their town and that they suspected it was "banned," and so on. It could be that the station skipped the show by accident or that the person misrembered or they missed the first showing and on and on. But, as Lisa says, that hardly equates to it being "banned in the US." Gareth is mistaken and maybe someone will think to ask him where he heard it the next time they see him.
