It just occurred to me that I should pass along to you, my personal contacts from other countries, how much support and sympathy from abroad has meant to the American people.

I was with friends yesterday and some of them mentioned that they were brought to tears when watching a telecast of the Star Spangled Banner being played at the Changing of the Guard. Another mentioned that she was particularly grateful to Canada for providing a safe haven for our planes--without regard to any danger that might encompass. Which led to a general conversation about the kindness, compassion and support that has been offered by so many. It is appreciated. Thank you.
