Hey, wait a minute! All I did was make a bit of a joke, cause I thought
it was
a bit funny that the announcement about ebay told everyone who Chris
Boucher was
and that he wrote Rumours of Death, when they would surely already know
that if
they watch B7.
Why would they necessarily know that if they watch B7? It's unlikely that anyone could subscribe to this list for more than a few months without becoming aware of the Church of Boucher, but not all fans are aware of (or even interested in) who was involved in a show other than the actors, especially if they're new to the fandom. Such fans might still be interested in acquiring memorabilia from people involved in the show.
So what you are saying is, that although there may be fans out there who have no idea who Chris Boucher is, and what his contribution to the series involved, they still may be interested in buying his copy of a script? It's possible I suppose, but IMO not very likely. If their interest in the show's production is so scant, why should they then consider spending £20, £30 perhaps £50 or more on a script they have a video of anyway, instead of on something more directly related to the actors?
I would be interested to know just how many people on this list really do not know who Chris Boucher is. Perhaps they would like to make themselves known :-)...

This comes perilously close to a big arguement from a couple of years ago as what classifies a "true fan". I pray that this time the discussion does not get as heated.

Yes, I am. Longer term residents of this list have seen a good few members turn up who had not seen all of the series; had seen none of it on arrival but had heard it talked about elsewhere and wanted to learn more about a show that didn't have neat tidy endings performed by shiny happy people; who had seen it years ago and liked it enough to do a search when they got net access, but hadn't seen it for years and couldn't even remember some of the actors' names. The last applies to quite a few non-satellite/cable-owning residents of the UK. I should know, I've had enough of them comment on the posters in my office. ("Ohhh, that Servalan, she was... ohh, ohh")
Many of the above are quite likely to be interested in an original script with notations by the writer and/or script editor, even if they haven't yet had "Chris Boucher is god" burnt into their brains. There are two reasons for this; one being standard fannish acquisitiveness about anything linked with the series, the other being an interest in the mechanics of putting together a show. It is not necessary to be a hard core "get a life" type fan to be interested for either reason, and many fans would associate Terry Nation's name with the show, not Chris Boucher.
This does sound unpleasantly as if you think that only *your* definition of a True Fan is allowed to enjoy all the pleasures of fandom. We've had that debate - go look it up in the archives.

FWIW, when I joined this list for the first time back in '95 (mutters crustily in the rocking chair and shawl), a) I had no copies of the videos b) it was my first venture into fandom c) I'd never joined Horizon or any other fan club since I'm not someone who joins things d) my only knowledge of the show was something that I'd loved dearly from the original UK broadcasts, and I had a copy of "Scorpio Attack". e) had never heard of Chris Boucher
So I remember what it was like to know virtually nothing about the show compared to most people on this list, except my own memories which didn't include the names of the scriptwriters. Back then, if I'd seen a message like Judith's, I would have been grateful to learn who Chris Boucher is and why I might be interested in a script of his. And why shouldn't someone be interested in collecting scripts rather than videos? Everyone expresses their fannish interests in different ways and that might mean choosing scripts over videos and being interested in a script but not primarily because it was Chris Boucher that wrote it but maybe because it's a favourite remembered episode.
And there have been plenty of times in my life when I haven't had access to a VCR so spending money on a script would have made far more sense than spending it on a video.
