2. Cygnus Alpha - do something about Brian Blessed, to make him underplay the

role, or get someone else who *would*. It would have made a huge difference IMO if Vargas had been a quieter, more subtle menace (and didn't wear tennis shoes).

Brian Blessed is perfectly capable of doing quiet menace, as I've just seen during my first viewing of the original Blackadder. Most of the time he's loud and boisterous and, well, Brian, but there are a couple of scenes where he does the quiet menace thing, and does it very, very well. I found myself wishing that someone had sat on him during Cygnus Alpha and made him do the quiet menace thing there.

How about putting Bruce Purchase into the episode, then let him and Brian Blessed fight it out. Plenty of time there for Blake to assemble a crew and leave undiscovered.
