I vintras köpte jag en "specialtillverkad" MTB med ett drivsystem tillverkat av Shimano, som heter Sparc. Det har ett inbyggt växelnav med 5 växlar och frihjul, vilket är bra om strömmen tar slut och man måste trampa hem helt själv. En del navmotorer saknar frihjul och blir därför rätt tunga att trampa när de inte används eftersom magneterna gör ett visst motstånd. Om man räknar med att cykla snabbt och bara använda elassistansen i backar, så måste man ha frihjul, eftersom elassistansen bara funkar upp till max 25 km/tim. Har inte hunnit cykla så mycket än - cyklar ju mest liggcykel - men det hela verkar fungera bra. Shimano Sparc är ett rätt gammalt system, men kanske går att fås på någon begagnad cykel.
