My plan was to merge it after the 3.5 release, in order to (i) to be able to do it without another abi breakage (in 3.4.x, the ecc curve symbols are exposed directly, and then changing the size of those structs breaks linking in some cases, due to copy relocations), and (ii) not delay 3.5 further.

And now 3.5 is severely delayed compared to what I had hoped for. Not sure if re-plan is needed, or if I ought to focus on getting 3.5 out asap.
