They were the loudest, hardest, wildest rock band this country has ever produced, and possibly the best live band I have ever seen. There was nothing even remotely "pop" about them...

In my own defense in stealing the description, I'd like to say that as times changes music labels kind of change with it. What was once described as alternative rock later climbed the charts and became popular music, aka pop. But you're right, Union Carbide Productions never went to "popular music" during their time. Today some even want to label their music "stoner rock". Myself, I'd label them pop/rock.
