One thing I found helpful when editing my essays is getting a second check after I have finished rewriting them. I recently came across EssayPay's tool here: https://essaypay.com/writing-tools/essay-checker/ . It gives separate grammar and readability results and also points out specific areas that may need attention, which makes the final editing pass a little easier.
