Sure, he doesn't have any choice at that stage, but the idea of Our Heroes messing around with scalpels is a tad worrying. Last evening I watched an episode of 'Deep Space 9' and it occured to me that in Trek and its sequels there's always a physician playing a prominent role. I've suggested to my students that the great number of physicians peopling the works of modern literature probably indicate the authors' feeling that the society is ill. The physicians and psychologists in Trek sequels may present some kind of subconscious admission that the Federation is ill. In B7 we know it's ill. Hence, on the 'material' level, B7 could use a regular doctor character to heal all the battle wounds. On the 'symbolical' level, however, there's no need for a doctor becuase Dr Blake tends to 'cure' the society in a bit more drastic way. <OTOH, what with battle wounds, they've hopefully had a fair bit of practice in the mudical unit since Breakdown - there *is* a practical reason for all Avon's fanfictional Suffering, you know ...> You mean, he suffers additionally because they're clumsy and can't heal him properly? The thing about B7 is that there are so many things that I'm sure no one consciously put in (and, some would argue, that aren't present outside of the minds of some of the viewers), yet they're _there_. Maybe it's because some things feel right to writers, actors, whoever, even when they aren't _consciously_ created. I'm still thinking over Natasa's post, and it's got a very right feel to it. Well, just because they'd sent one of the Federation's best surgeon's before doesn't mean that it wasn't a flip it open, take out the old batteries, toss in the new ones kind of device. Avalon and Aliases

Does anybody know (or is anybody willing to speculate) whether "Avalon" is intended to be the character's real name or just an assumed identity? What about Cancer? Is she really called Piri, or is that just another alias? Also, which character in the B7 universe uses the most aliases (Anna Grant springs instantly to mind)? Lastly, did the real Shivan have a hilarious fake Jewish accent, or was Travis just over-acting? Pseudnik. "Don't let the milk floats ride your mind."

Doctors

Gareth is in an episode of 'Doctors', a daytime soap on BBC1. It's on this week, either Wednesday or Friday. According to Horizon, the episode is 'Chip off the old block' which is on Wednesday 26 Sept, but the Radio Times has Gareth on the cast list on Friday 28 Sept which is 'Neighbours'. However, they do sometimes lump cast lists for the week together and every day of the week except Wednesday has a cast list, so Wednesday's cast list might have been added to Fridays. (It's supposed to be the 'regular' cast in the Friday listing, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if Gareth had been included there by accident) If you want to watch it, I'd try Wednesday at 12.30 lunchtime and if Gareth isn't in that one, then try Friday at the same time. Images sought

I'm looking for two specific images, and after searching the internet for most of the day, I've decided to give in. If anyone knows of a webpage where they can be found, would they please let me know? The images are: A group shot of the first series cast taken on the flight deck (as seen on volume one of the recent video release by Fabulous Films) The other one is a long shot. It's a screen capture from the title sequence; specifically the "blocky" pale blue & white shot of Blake under 'treatment'. I hope no-one minds me posting this request, as I said, I've been searching all day! Many thanks Wildean
