Just a mention on who I reply to... I don't usually know who I'm replying to when I first hit reply (only a small segment of the message is showing, what prompts be to answer, and it usually does not include the name of the writer.) I scroll up or down after to see who it is if I very much want to quote by name or if I want to reply off list, in which case I have to copy and paste their name and delete the list. Therefore, I hope NO ONE is offended if I answer some more often than others. I do usually know Neil's posts while reading as he has a tendancy to choose different subjects and approach them different ways. With Mistral, Ellynne and Kathryn's posts, I can tell it's one of them and frequently which one. All others I must check names on, and even with the people I know, I reply based on whether the topic stirs me to contribute.

I like Blake's 7 - I thought I'd like to talk to other Blake seven fans about the show, so I decided to join a mailing list. When I first posted and said hello to you all, and received no response (although, I will add, I have since been welcomed by one person)I didn't think of you all as rude(although if I'd walked into a room full of you people and the same situation occurred, I most definitely would have). I have wasted precious time, giving you all the benefit of the doubt, by posting enough posts, to be sure I actually was being ignored - although, again this was rather obvious, as a couple of points I made in a couple of posts, were later, also stated by someone else - which means that either, they read my posts (agreed with that point at least) but did not wish to directly respond to me *OR* they had similar thoughts but did not know about mine, simply because they couldn't be bothered reading my posts - amounts to the same thing. You could have told me to bugger off - I wouldn't have liked it(who would?) but because I don't know any of you, you don't actually matter to me - so I would have been able to take it...At least it would have been honest. You people are exceptionally rude. Cheryl. Oyez, oyez. Off the top of my *un*talented head, Blake discovering his beloved wife has cheated with former ally and rebellious foe Kerr Avon. Cally has brought back the Auronae and are waging war with humans in retaliation and vengeance that Blake doesn't feel entirely unjustified. Orac has created a humanoid avatar (much like Rommie) who works with Avon and is every bit as difficult and obnoxious as his former incarnation, and Avon can't pull his key anymore. Servalan had her consciousness transplanted into Jenna's body a long time ago, and is secretly scheming behind Blake's back, undetected. And Tarrant has never forgiven Avon for getting Dayna butchered at Gauda Prime, and leads Blake's troops against the rebel. I'd watch.

Thanks for all the interesting responses to my query. I agree with Mistral's observation that it's the quality of the description not the quantity that counts -- though it doesn't answer the obvious next question of how to write the gem-like background description that in a few crisp sentences gives a diverse set of readers a feel for the setting/character. Your mileage may vary. Some of us like all of the major characters and the actors/actresses who played them and others have their special favorites and dislikes. But you shouldn't assume that just because YOU don't like a particular actor that it's okay to make sweeping statements indicating that one or another of them is "bad" without stepping on other fen's toes.
